Follow up….

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

I wrote a blog about Health Care the other day. I also saw my article transform during the two days of writing it. With this post I got a lot of comments with people agreeing and disagreeing. Great, but that is not what this post is about.

I made a huge mistake with the Health Care post. I shared personal and private information about a person. I used them as an example without their permission. I didn’t know 100% of the actual information that I wrote about and that got me in some hot water.

Now, I know you are all saying that in blogging you are not going to make everyone happy. That is not what I am addressing. I am trying to point out that as bloggers, writers or just people who wanna vent on their blogs, we have the task in front of us that we need to be respectful to those that are mentioned in our blogs.

Yes, I was voicing my opinions. For anyone that knows me, you all know that I am very opinionated when it comes to things. However, that does not give me a right to post personal and private information about a someone or something that I don’t have the permission or right to post.

I am not going to quit blogging. I love doing it. But, I am going to be watching a bit of what I write so that this does not happen again.

To the person that was referenced in the blog post: I am sorry. I messed up. I had no right to share your personal information. Yes, I should have written a different way and or created a ficticious story or something to prove my point. You are someone that I hold in high regard and always have. I do sincerely apologize for what I wrote.

Twitter….bring em on!

So I have noticed in that in the recent days that I have been blogging and then POSTING it to my Twitter account (@ihubby) that my number of hits have SHOT THROUGH THE ROOF.  No, nothing astronomical but definitely an increase in views.

picture-1.png Now, I may have thought that Twitter was only useful for witty remarks and conversations between friends (with only 140 characters) but it has a whole new dynamic that I am loving.  I can get my blog out there for many to read and comment and have discussions.Guess that means I am going to have to write more.

Shit.

Distress

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

As most of you know, I work in talk radio.  I do guest relations for a well know FM radio show that is nationally syndicated.  We get callers from all over and their topics are all over the map.  Topics range from “Obama is not a US citizen” to “I need advice on what to do with my boyfriend”.

I got a call from a man this morning who works in a machine shop of some sort.  He was talking about the Health Care Rumors article on The White House’s main page.   Here is the link.  He then said that with this article and what he has heard he and his coworkers were flying their American flag upside down in the machine shop.  This is not a “I hate America” statement but it’s meant to mean “We are in Distress!” when hung upside down on a ship or boat.

I have to say, I have no problem with this.  But after he got on the air I received a flood of calls from VERY liberal people saying that he was doing the flag and “injustice” and that what he was doing was “punishable under the constitution”.

I think that these people are TOTALLY wrong.  It’s not an injustice.  An injustice to me is buring the flag in protest.  That is, or should be, punishable under the law.  To take the flag that this nation looks at as a symbol of our country and destroy it is tasteless and just disgusting in my book.  Hanging it upside down is not destroying it but making a point.  We are in distress. This country is dealing with the “Hope-and-Change-Yes-We-Can” that Obama brought with him while riding in on his white horse.  However, most of what he said is turning out to not be the truth, we were lied too.  JUST LIKE BUSH, let me throw that in there.  I have issues with the last president and don’t give him a pass but for people to not realize this is happening with Obama just shows that they are all blinded by the “Hope” and “Change” they voted for.

I say fly your flags upside down.  WE ARE IN DISTRESS!  We need help and we all need to realize that we are the ones that have to stand up and show our contentment for what is going on at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

What do you think?

Sleepless night

Friday, January 4th, 2008

So I can’t sleep.  This happens to us all and we all know that feeling.  I thought I was tired and then BAM nothin.  Not even like that half fall asleep where you think you can make and then you don’t.  Nope, not even that.  I just lay there in bed with Denise beside me (already about 1/2 the way to dreamland).

Things in the last week or so have been interesting.  Christmas came and went.  It was a nutty, crazy and action-packed 4 days in Bend with all of my family there.  We announced to everyone that Denise and I were now engaged and everyone gave us nothing but warm congrats, hugs and kisses.  I think the best was when my aunt just hugged Denise and stated:  I knew it.  I just knew it.

I got to meet my mom’s new boyfriend, Paul.  He ended up meeting all of us in a giant “baptism” of family cheer.  Well, it was more like laughing and yelling like we always do but I do have to tell you that we all were in fine form this holiday season.

Denise and I were total hits with my cousin Tracie’s two girls (Paige and Landree) and also found my cousin Kevin’s lil’ boy (Findley) to be one cool little man.  Nothing like having a two year old come up to you and hold out his clenched fist, waiting for you to give him “bumps”.  Also his “Peace out dude” was quite entertaining.

All in all Christmas was amazing, Denise and I are engaged and life is pretty damn okay.

The engagement was one of my delights of this last year.  I don’t think I will ever escape the story of what I said when I asked her.

Jason:  “So….”

Denise:  “So what?!”

Jason:  “Will ya?”

Yeah, I lost complete control of all my mouth and brain functions at the same time.  Perfect.

You know him…don’t you?!

6:15 a.m.
While walking into the dark bedroom, Denise turns on the bathroom light. I wake up and speak.

Jason: “Peter’s grandma has powers too.”
Denise: “Who?!”
Jason: “Peter Petrelli.”
Denise: “What are you talking about?”
Jason: “From HEROES.”
Denise: “Huh?”

Jason proceeds to fall back asleep leaving his girlfriend wondering what the hell he dreams about and why Peter Petrelli was in it.
