Two Things

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

So this morning I woke up and my liver was laying next to me, smoking a Camel non-filte and giving me the middle finger with his other hand. All he spoke was “I hate you….so much.”

Since Lucas (for Denise, Flukas) is leaving in like 15 days to move to Montana, “The Boys” and I are going to start an audio blog that all of us have access to. It’s going to be a group effort but it’s gonna rock and be a good way for all of us to know what Lucas is up to. Even though it’s gonna probably turn into a Drunk Dial Blog that we all will only call on Friday nights, screaming into the phone about how drunk we are. Ah, good times.

I wish I could quit you!

Scene: Leaving Blockbuster after renting “Brokeback Mountain” with Scotty.

“Knowing me you probably won’t ever see this movie again.”

After Sasheying (I think that’s how it’s spelled) out the door he stops and looks at me.

“Did I just tell her that I wasn’t going to ever return Brokeback Mountain and then prance outta the store?”

“Yes. Yes you did. ”

“As if two guys renting this together wasn’t enough.”

05′-06′ Snow Season: Recap

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

So the snowboarding season has come to an end here in Southern Oregon. Did my crew and I take full advantage of mountain and the PLETHORA of snow they received this season? DAMN RIGHT WE DID! I am going to do a recap for all of you of what my best days were and maybe some others will chime in with comment about days that made their lists.

First Day My cousin Hugh took me up to Mt. Hood for my birthday on Thanksgiving and even though they had minimal snow and the season had just started the week before it was still amazing. To pull out the boots and wax the stick up and start shreddin’ the pow is the way to go. Even though there was no pow to be found that day we ripped it up and had a great time. Thanks Hugh.

1st Trip to Mt. Bachelor So the crew (Scotty, Lucas, Devin, our newest addition Leslie AKA Foxxy and I) went to Bend and stayed with Devin’s Dad and bro in Sunriver. It was amazing to stay at such a nice place and it was a nice gesture for Devin’s dad to put up with five drunks like us, at least we were on Saturday night. Many good times were had that weekend. Great riding, good friends and a SIC mountain. What more could you ask for? Oh, that’s right. . . powder.

Bavarian Night All I can say is this: Disco Dancing in front of cop lights, a snow slide in the snow at night and guy in a fucking BEAR SUIT! That night was nothing short of debauchery. We stayed at the mountain and slept in the parking lot and got up a got FIRST TRACKS ON FRESH POW POW!!!!!!!!!! Shit and we built a fucking huge kicker that day!

2nd Trip to Mt. Bachelor Drive up Saturday night, pile 7 people into a hotel room and up to the mountain for a day of kick ass spring boarding/skiing (yeah we let them ride with us). 60 degrees and clear skies and an I-Park that is waiting for the S.O. kids to tear it a new fuckin’ asshole! Plus a halfpipe that was doper than Robert Downey Jr. on a BENDER!

So that’s my recap of my favorite days this year. Yeah, there were more days but these are the ones that stood out as just AWESOME. Definetly some times I will always remember. Way to go crew. Next season will be amazing.

CARPE DIEM

Guess I better explain…..

Friday, April 21st, 2006

So the whole United 93 is becoming an on-going discussion and I think I feel I need to explain my point of view better. People seem to think that the only reason I am behind this is because I am a “Stubborn Republican”. That is not the point. Anyone who turns this into a political discussion of “Republican” or “Democrat” needs to pull their heads outta their asses! I have done my research on this film and here is what I have found that backs up my point that even though most of us felt some form of attachment to what happened on September 11th we are just a small part of the WHOLE picture.

I tried make light of the situation and add some humor but I don’t think this is the right way to assess this situation. If you search the internet high and low. . . all you have do is GOOGLE it, you will find some info on this movie. Statistics, cast and crew interviews, interviews with those related to the family members, reviews of the movie and the list goes on. Here are a few of the facts that make ME believe that they approached this movie with all of those things mentioned above and more.

1. There was unanimous agreement from the family members of the passengers and crew that were on United 93.
2. The actors portaying the crew are REAL flight attendents and pilots and some of them actually knew the crew and are bringing that realism to the screen.
3. “This isn’t a movie; it is a testament to what happened that day. Not just on the plane, but on the ground as government officials struggled mightily to understand what was going on and react.” This is by Josh Tyler read the rest here.

For some of those out there saying that this movie is just a “America wanting to see tragedy” and how “American’s love to see blood and guts and that’s why this film is being made” is just fucking lame. No one wants to RE-LIVE that day. Hell, I never want to see another day like that happen ever again! But some people in this country have treated this event as if it was a something that happened and that’s it. We moved on. I don’t feel that way. It happened and I will never forget.

This movie is not for everyone. Yes, it is going to be difficult to watch for most of us and for the rest it’s going to be impossible. I can’t say I know everything about it yet cause I have not seen it yet. But know that when I do see it I am going to be a different person. I can’t tell you if that is good or bad but I know I will be different.

Go see it. Don’t go see it. It’s your choice. If it’s too soon for you then so be it. But if you equate it to Gladiator’s and the killing of slaves for entertainment in the Roman times . . . come up with a better analogy. You didn’t prove shit to me. Only thing it did was make me think you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

Normally I would appologize for offending someone or not being “sensative” to someone’s feelings. Fuck that! This is my blog and my forum to say what I want. If you don’t like it. . . Blog about it yourself!

Let the hunt BEGIN!
