I apologize to some of you (you know who you are) who are sick of hearing about the new iPhone. I know you hate hearing about it but it’s the big thing this week and so I am going to address a big topic about it that has been all over the forums on the net.
Alright, so this Monday at the WWDC Apple released the new iPhone……iPhone 3GS. The “S” stands for speed and man it’s true. The processor in the new phone is 2X faster than the original 3G. It’s way faster than the ORIGINAL iPhone (which I have) and is just the next step in the evolution of the iPhone.
Now, the main point of this entry. There are many people who want this iPhone 3GS and wanna upgrade their current phone. That is totally understandable. Hell, I wanna upgrade mine. I didn’t upgrade to the 3G when it came out, I figured I’d wait till they came out with something new. And here we are.
$199 for the 16 Gig and $299 for the 32 Gig. Not bad, not bad at all. However, you have to have an upgrade available to you and a lot of the people who upgraded to the 3G from the Original iPhone aren’t eligible, well not completely.
This will give you all some insight.
Okay, so there you have it. AT&T subsidized the 3G’s to give you all a lower price. That made you all happy. But, now that there is something flashy and new you want the same handout. Not gonna happen. For the people like me who waited and didn’t have to have the “newest and coolest” piece of gadgetry are eligible and so are new customers. I think that’s fair. But no, some people are taking it to the next level. They are bitching and complaining that they were “mislead when they purchased the 3G and weren’t told about the new iPhone!” Boo-effing-hoo! Myself and everyone else who bought the original iPhone paid regular price and didn’t get the special price.
Enough about me, back to the sad little 3G users. They have gone so far as to take there bitching to a famous social networking site: Twitter. They are starting a Twitition on the subject. They are saying that AT&T needs to “offer reasonable prices 3G upgrades”.
This is just pathetic. You already got a deal on a phone and now something new comes out and you don’t get the great deal that others are getting and all you wanna do is BITCH. I mean I can feel for you only a tiny bit. I understand that when something new, better and faster comes out that you want it. I am that way to. But, you “want” it, you don’t “need” it. You feel this need for it so when other iPhone users see you with your phone you can say “Yeah it’s the NEW one”. Maybe not all of you but I know that most of you are that way.
So here is my final thought: Get over it. You got an extremely awesome upgrade or deal when you signed up and got the iPhone 3G. If you “need” this new and badass iPhone then you are going to have to pay. That’s the way the world is. Deal with it.
P.S. Here is another story about how iPhone 3G users are angry.
